Syringe Exchange

In May 2005, AHP opened its new Syringe Exchange Program storefront office at 1232 Broadway, in Bedford Stuyvesant.  The Syringe Exchange Program operates under a New York State waiver to provide syringe exchange and comprehensive harm reduction services to the community. 

 

The Syringe Exchange Program is generously funded by the New York State Department of Health/AIDS Institute (NYSDOH/AI) and the Medical Health Research Association of New York City/HIV Care Services (NYCDOH/MHRA). 


ESAP

In September 2006, in collaboration with a Physican Assistant, AHP began providing ESAP services at several sites in Brooklyn.  The Expanded Syringe Access Program operates under a New York State licence which allows registered Physicans, Physican Assistants, Nurses and Pharmacies to furnish up to ten syringes over the counter to anyone 18 years or older.
